Growing up in the cultural hot-pot of Johannesburg South Africa, Egan was introduced to a wide variety of musical styles and traditions. This led him to obtain a Bmus at the University of the Witwatersrand where he studied under some of South Africa's top musicians including Carlo Mombelli, Andile Khumalo, and Jonathan Crossley.

Egan is now based in the United Kingdom where he continues to compose for various mediums including national and international TV commercials, Spotify podcasts, documentaries, aerial dance and short films.

Most recently, Egan composed two orchestral pieces for dancers in the International Pole Sports Federation (2025), showcasing his talent in hybrid orchestral composition. Prior to this, he scored the short film Loose Lips and a Bloody Ring (2024), which featured in the international 24-Hour 4 Points Film Festival. In 2023, Egan won Best Score at the same festival for the film Spirit (2023). In 2022 he composed music for Sasko's advertising campaign 'People Who Care Make Things Better'  which was heavily featured in South African media. Another short film was added to Egan's roster this year with the film Crystal Dead (2022). At the latter end of 2022, Egan composed music for Bavencio's international commercial: Quiet Moments which received praise from industry powerhouse Chris Craker (score producer for Interstellar, The Little Prince and Mulan).
